70th Anniversary Luncheon PDF Print

Attached please find an invitation to attend the Luncheon to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the start of the 2/15Bn Sunday 5th September 2010

This is a very special occasion in the life of our Battalion and we have had quite a few people who have already sent in their completed applications to attend, however we want more.

The reason is very simple --- this may well be the last time that in fact we will be able to celebrate in this fashion (excluding Anzac Day each year) because as you know our blokes are not getting any younger, and we need to let them know in no uncertain fashion how highly we acknowledge them

The guest speaker has now been finalised and is as follows:

"Rear Admiral Ken Doolan AO RAN (Retd), RSL National President,
will attend the 70th Anniversary of the formation of the Battalion on 5 September 2010."

So please get those forms filled in well before the closing date of Saturday 28 August.

Looking forward to seeing you

Kind regards

STEVE ROWAN

Secretary

Introduction to the Battalion

The 2/15th Infantry Battalion of the Second AIF was raised in Brisbane on 1 May 1940, and was disbanded in Brisbane on 21 January 1946.  It was an infantry battalion that was primarily raised in Queensland, as is shown by the army identification number prefix (QX) of most of its members during its life.

And, yes, there's more!

President's Message PDF Print

From June 2010 Caveant Hostes

Anzac Day this year was to some extent a slight disappointment due mainly to the new arrangements for the positioning of the World War 2 banners, as well as the lack of thought as to where the veterans belonging to the various unit banners were placed . In other words all of the veterans were not placed right behind the banners they would have been following normally. Due to illness some of us who would have marched were unable to do so, and so ended up in Jeeps or golf buggies. This would have been OK if we had been placed behind our own banners so that our people would have known where to look for the veterans they wanted to see on the day in the march, however the hoods on the buggies made it difficult to recognise anyone.
